We are happy to be able to offer the Sepher HaBritot, the only Hebrew-English Bible (at least that we are aware of) that contains both the Tanach and Apostolic Scriptures. The Hebrew text of the Tanach is from the Rabbinic Bible, while the Hebrew text of the Apostolic Scriptures is the modern Hebrew translation done by the Israel Bible Society. The English translation throughout is the New King James Version. This is not an endorsement of that English translation (we actually wish that another English translation could have been used), but at least this gives (in parallel columns) the Hebrew and an English translation in one convenient volume.
This Bible retails from the American Bible Society for $89.99. We were able to purchase them at a reduced rate, and are selling them for $65. We are not sure if we will be able to purchase them at this reduced rate in the future, so if you have been looking for this Bible, we suggest you buy it soon. As I write this Newsletter, we have only 23 copies in stock.

FellowHeirs: Jews and Gentiles Together in the Family of God
by Tim Hegg
Are you being told that the Torah is only for Jewish people? Is this what the Torah itself teaches? What did Yeshua and His Apostles teach on this subject? In this book Hegg will lead you through an investigation of the Scriptures that deal with the relationship of Jew and non-Jew within the body of Messiah. He shows that in Messiah, all have the same covenant privileges and responsibilities.

What God Has Joined Together: Biblical Foundations for Marriage
Book and Audio CD (with 16 classes)
by Tim Hegg
I have been greatly encouraged to hear the ways in which this study is being used in the lives of people. Here's a note I recently received from a young couple who have been using What God Has Joined Together as they prepare for marriage:
Dear Mr. Hegg,
I just wanted to say thank you for all your work that you do. My fiance and I just finished your "What God has joined together" pre-marital counseling book and seriously, it was the information that I needed. CW

Free Resources at TorahResource |
| |
Most of you know that at TorahResource, we are constantly putting new and updated resources on the site which are free for the taking. But just in case you were unaware of these resources, I thought I would mention them in this month's Newsletter.
- Notes on the Weekly Torah Portions
It has been the tradition of the synagogue, dating back at least to the late 2nd Temple period, to divide the Torah into sections for reading each week. As far as we can tell, the original cycle of readings took three or three and a half years to complete. This cycle of reading is therefore known as the "triennial cycle." According to many scholars, the triennial cycle was compressed into an annual cycle of readings in the years following the destruction of the Temple (70 CE), and this "yearly cycle" is the reading schedule that most synagogues in our times follow. At TorahResource, we decided years ago to adopt the triennial cycle primarily because the sections were shorter and allowed us to spend more time discussing the passages in our Shabbat services.
I have made my own notes on the Torah portions available on the "Torah–Weekly Parashah" page at TorahResource (there is a link to the page from the left-hand navigation bar on the home page). These notes are in pdf (Acrobat Reader) format, so all you need to do to access them is to right-click on the Parashah number and "save target as…." (Win) or "Save as" (Mac). This will allow you to download the pdf file to your computer, and then you can read it on screen or print it using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Please feel free to make copies for your personal or family study, group bible study, or congregation.
You might be saying to yourself, "But we use the annual cycle, not the triennial cycle." No problem! This simply means that there will be three or four lessons available for your use to cover each longer parashah of the one year cycle. I have included a table of the one year cycle that shows the corresponding triennial parashot. You can see the table by clicking here.
- Our Weekly Bible Study in the Gospel of Matthew
Every week, on Wednesday evenings, I lead a bible study through the Gospel of Matthew. We have been in this study for nearly two years now, and are currently near the end of chapter 12. Each week I hand out pages of commentary notes on the portion we will study, and record our bible study in digital format. Then the commentary pages are uploaded to the website (in pdf format) along with the audio recording (in mp3 format). You can go to the Matthew Study page by clicking on "Matthew Weekly Study" in the left hand navigation bar on the home page.
The first 41 sessions (which comprise the first year of our study), cover chapters 1 through 7 of Matthew and are now available for purchase (click here if you're interested in purchasing): the printed commentary notes are in 8.5 x 11 spiral bound format (282 pgs) and the audio of the 41 study sessions is on a single CD in mp3 format. All of this material was originally offered for free as we went through our study.
Sessions 42–76 are now available for free download (both commentary and audio recordings) on the Matthew Study page. So if you're looking for a weekly bible study, you might consider checking the Matthew Study page each Thursday to download the current commentary pages and audio recording. Our last Matthew Study for this year will be June 18 and then we will resume our study again on September 10. Once we conclude our study for this year, we will be removing the files from the website to make room for the third year of study, so if you have not downloaded the current materials and want to, you should do it soon. Once the second year's materials are removed from the site, we will be making them available for purchase (printed spiral bound commentary and mp3 recordings on CD). This will comprise Vol. 2 of the Matthew Commentary.
By the way, for the past four weeks in our Matthew Study, we have been grappling (again!) with the chronology of Yeshua's crucifixion and resurrection. So even if you're not ready to jump into a full-fledged study of Matthew's Gospel, if you are interested in the chronology of the "Passion Week," you might want to download the current handouts and audio.
- Articles on Various Subjects
Through the years I have presented papers at various functions, written articles for magazines, publications, and studies at our own synagogue. Many of these articles are available on the "Articles in English" page for free download (in pdf format). There is a link on the left hand navigation bar on the home page. I do add new articles to this page from time to time, so you might want to check back periodically to see what is available. There are also a few articles that have been translated into Spanish and these are available on the Artículos en Español page.
- Parents Teaching Their Children
One of the most important Torah commandments is found in the Shema: "…and you shall teach them (the words of Torah) diligently to your children…." At our synagogue in Tacoma, we have made it our tradition to keep the children with us as we pray and study on Shabbat. In order to give the children materials at their level, we have developed handouts, the first page of which outlines a given teaching in simple, straightforward language. This first page is written in hopes that the parents will read it to their children and make it applicable to their current age and ability to understand. Then we include additional pages of activities (coloring pages, puzzles, word-finds, etc.). I have uploaded the "front page" of these handouts for free download on the "Community & Family – Other Materials" page (there is a link on the left hand navigation bar on the home page). You will find pages on The Eighteen Benedictions (the core synagogue prayers); the Festivals; Torah Symbols (such as the Torah Scroll, Ner Tamid, Mezzuzah, Tefillin, etc); the Life of Yeshua, the Ten Commandments (Words), and more. We are currently doing a study through The Beatitudes with our children, and these pages are being uploaded as they are produced. What we have discovered is that as we teach our children these basic and foundational lessons, many of the adults are learning new things as well! Feel free to download these pages (pdf format), then add your own coloring or other activity pages, and use them however best fits your needs and the needs of your family, home group, or congregation.
- Ketubbah Text; Circumcision Certificate; Birkat HaMazon
If you're looking for a Hebrew and English text suitable for a Messianic Ketubbah (Marriage Contract), or the Hebrew and English for a Circumcision Certificate, we have one example of each for free download on the "Community & Family – Other Materials" page (pdf format). You'll also find the complete Hebrew & English text to the Birkat HaMazon (Blessing After the Meal) in booklet format. Click here to go directly to these resources.
- Interested in Studying the DuTillet Hebrew Matthew?
If you are one of those "scholarly types," the complete text of the DuTillet Hebrew Matthew is available, both the manuscript images as well as a pdf. The pdf file is my own transcription of the manuscript in parallel columns with the critical Greek text. All of these files and more, dealing with the DuTillet Matthew, are available for free download on the DuTillet Matthew page.
- Are You Studying Hebrew? Are You Using the First Adult Hebrew Primer from EKS Publishing?
If so, I have audio files from the first 8 chapters on the "Hebrew Language" page for free download. These audio files (mp3 format) will help you hear how the Hebrew is pronounced, and help give you correct pronunciation as you are first learning the language. Click here to go to the "Hebrew Language" page. You'll also find a few other files (pdf format) to help with issues of Hebrew grammar.

A Word of Thanks |
| |
One of the characteristics of genuine faith is a thankful heart. Thus Paul writes to the Colossians: "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through Him to God the Father" (Col 3:17). The reason that thankfulness characterizes the life of faith is because the thankful heart centers its attention on God's goodness, always acknowleging one's utter depenence upon Him for all things. "For in Him we live and move and exist…" (Acts 17:28). Interstingly, in Paul's list of sins that will characterize the increased evil of the last days, "ungrateful" is included (2Tim 3:2). Ungratefulness, the opposite of thankfulness, comes about when we have our eyes upon ourselves rather than upon God.
At TorahResource, we have so much for which to be thankful! God continues to encourage us with the power of His word to effect His purposes in our lives and the lives of others. In the past month, many of you have sent emails or notes, kindly expressing your gratefulness for the materials and teaching we make available. These are so encouraging to us and give added motivation to work even harder to publish teaching materials that honor Him and strengthen His people. For those of you who have willingly supported our work financially, we send our heartfelt thanks. Your financial support is a direct answer to our prayers and is an essential part of making this ministry viable.
May God grant peace upon us and upon all Israel!
