"Why We Keep Torah: 10 Persistent Questions" – Instructor: Tim Hegg |
Registration Fee: $25
|
For those of us who have come to the conviction that the Torah is God's eternal standard of righteousness for all of His children, we are constantly confronted with the same questions over and over again by those who believe the Torah has been abolished. Each week in this class we will consider one of these questions and provide biblically based answers. Here are the questions we will cover (b'zrat Hashem – with God's help). |
- Didn’t Jesus Abolish all of the Old Testament food laws when He declared all foods clean? (Mark 7:19)
- Doesn’t the death of Jesus on the cross put an end to all the OT sacrifices? Wouldn’t sacrifices in a rebuilt Jerusalem Temple not only be unnecessary but also a degrading of the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus on the cross?
- Doesn’t Paul make it clear in Colossians 2:16ff that the weekly Sabbath, food laws, and Old Testament festivals no longer have any importance for believers in Jesus?
- Doesn’t Paul make it clear in Romans 14 that the Sabbath is no longer a special day, and that every day of the week is the same?
- Didn’t God tell Peter, in the vision of the sheet (Acts 10), that the Old Testament food laws were done away with by the coming of Jesus?
- Those who are teaching the current viability of the Law for Christians are trying to bring us back under the Law, aren’t they? Isn’t this something Paul specifically teaches against in Romans and Galatians?
- The Law requires that all males be circumcised, yet Paul teaches that for those who receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit (Galatians 5:2f). How do you explain that?
- Didn’t the Apostles affirm that the Law was just for the Jews and not for the Gentiles? Why are you teaching people that the Law is for Gentile believers too? (Acts 15; Acts 21)
- Why are you teaching that the Law is a guide for the righteous? Wasn’t the Law given to condemn sinners, not to be a guide for righteous living! (1Tim 1:8ff).
- Aren’t the moral aspects of the Law all that remain for us? Haven’t the ceremonial and civil aspects been done away with by Jesus? Shouldn't Christians be concerned only about the commandments of the New Testament?

What You Aren't Being Told About Astronony
Vol 1
Our Created
Solar System
|
Some of you have heard me reference an exciting new DVD that exposes the "feet of clay" upon which the evolutionary theory has been built. I'm very happy to announce that this DVD is now available. Spike Psarris has put together a terrific video presentation showing how clear, scientific facts support the biblical account of creation and defy the evolutionary model in multiple ways. But even beyond its apologetic value, this DVD will cause you to marvel at the handiwork of God as you get "up close and personal" with our Solar System. (Running time: 109 minutes)

It is Often Said: 2000 Years of Christianity Cannot be Wrong!
Yeshua's Intercession for Us
Confronting Issues
The Unity of the Torah:
Are we commanded to keep the Torah or simply invited to keep it?
- Do you keep hearing that the Torah is for Jewish people and not for Gentiles?
- What about the teaching that the Moral laws of the Torah remain, but the Ceremonial and Civil parts have been abolished?
- Are some of God's family required to obey more of the Torah than others?
- If you're curious about these questions and more, read on …
There continues to be controversy within the Torah movement regarding the role of the non-Jewish believer within the Torah community. The same controversies and issues that plagued the early congregations of The Way are still with us!
A significant issue in these controversies is whether the non-Jewish believer in Yeshua has the same obligations to the Torah as the Jewish believer. Or to ask the question another way: does the non-Jewish believer have the same covenant obligations and privileges as does the Jewish believer?
In this short essay, I have looked at the various terms used to designate the Torah, and noted that in many cases, the singular form of these terms (e.g., commandment, word, etc.) is used to denote the whole. This emphasizes the unity of the Torah. The argument that some of the laws are given to specific groups (e.g., to women, men, kings, priests) does not logically prove that some laws were given only the Jewish people and not to the non-Jew.
