Description

This five volume set features of Tim Hegg’s introductory books on theology. Featuring refreshed layouts and new cover designs, this collection provides a solid foundation in key areas of biblical theology from a Messianic perspective, including:

Volume 1 – Interpreting the Bible: An Introduction to Hermeneutics
Volume 2 – The Messiah: An Introduction to Christology
Volume 3 – Biblical Doctrine of Salvation
Volume 4 – God’s Self Revelation: A Course in Theology Proper
Volume 5 – I Will Build My Ekklesia

Volume 1 – The way we approach the Bible, and the rules we employ to interpret the Word ultimately govern our understanding of the Scriptures and therefore how they are to be applied in our own walk of faith. A solid method of interpretation (hermeneutic) is foundational to our study and proper understanding of the Scriptures. This introduction to hermeneutics by Tim Hegg is a vital starting place for the student of the Word. Tim looks at the function of language and the way we must seek to understand the author’s intended meaning in their time and place. Tim dives into various methods of biblical interpretation to determine which one brings us to the intention of the author and the meaning of the text.

Volume 2 – This book is an in depth guide to the figure of the Messiah. Starting with the expectation of the Messiah in the first century, Tim Hegg looks at various texts including dead sea scrolls, 1Enoch, Sirach, and on into the early rabbinic literature to get a better understanding of the Messianic expectation. Hegg then turns to the Apostolic Scriptures (New Testament) to see the Messianic understanding of the Gospels. A survey of key texts in the Apostolic Scriptures shows how Yeshua fulfilled the role of the Messiah. Hegg finishes by looking at the understanding of Yeshua as the Messiah by the Church Fathers after the resurrection. This book is a wonderful reference guide to have on the shelf, but is also a wonderful resource for groups and individual study.

Volume 3 – In this book, Tim Hegg gives an in-depth look at the Gospel message and God’s way of salvation to bring fallen man back into covenant relationship with Him. Starting with the fall in the garden and moving through the biblical narrative, Hegg gives a comprehensive study in man’s need for salvation and the way in which the living God has made to save us. Hegg does not shy away from some of the more controversial topics in this study, rather, he dives head first into subjects such as God’s election and the idea of predestination, or the concept of a covenant made in the Garden with Adam and Eve. A full treatment of each biblical covenant is also presented and attached to the revelation of God’s method of salvation. Throughout this book, our author masterfully connects all of the covenants showing that at the center of the salvation narrative is a deep loving relationship between God and His people. Finally, Hegg finishes his book with the method of God’s salvation looking at topics such as Divine Calling, Regeneration, Atonement, Deliverance, Reconciliation, Justification and Sanctification. This book is wonderful addition to anyone library and is a must have for those who are wanting to go deeper in the study of God’s way of Salvation.

Volume 4 – The question of who God is has been at the forefront of society since time began. For believers, the question is more about how God has revealed Himself in Scripture. Yet, as we read, we begin to realize that we are limited in our own understanding. In this course on Theology Proper, Tim Hegg looks at what the Bible tells us about the Holy One. This fascinating study will help you unravel some of the mystery around this age-old question. Tim Hegg dives into the Scripture to explore the nature of God through His self-revelation to humankind. Included in this study is a look at the person and nature of the Holy Spirit, the existence of God, finding ways to describe God, the noncommunicable attributes of God, and much more.

Volume 5 – In our times, the word “Church” is used so broadly that it almost seems impossible to define. It can refer to a building where religious activities take place, or it can refer to a particular denomination of Christianity, or even of religious groups that claim to be “the Church” but which other Christian denominations claim are not “the Church” at all. In Matthew 16:18, Yeshua promised to build His Ekklesia (the Greek word often translated as “church”), but what exactly did He mean? The study of Ecclesiology or the nature and study of the Biblical assembly Yeshua promised to build is a large one, but also an important one.
